Rest In Peace Aunty Ruby Hunter...
Our hearts go out to family and community as Ruby Hunter has passed away...
Let us celebrate all her achievements and music which has been such a huge and important part of our Australian musical landscape.
She was an inspirational and spiritual musician and songwriter.
I grew up watching Ruby and Archie perform many times.

We have certainly lost one of our most unique and soulful songwomen ever.
An unmistakable voice and undeniable strength as a women, and as an indigenous women.

Thank you so much for sharing your heart and soul through your music.
Your song will remain here for generations to come...

Our ongoing Thoughts, Prayers, and Strength to Haiti right now>>>
Our backing singer Lady Nadee is one of approx only 80 Haitians living in Australia. Her and her siblings would like me to tell about the H.C.M  (Haitian Christian Mission) who supported them as orphans and whose work is as crucial as ever now...

a lil background:

H.C.M began in 1974 and it's dedicated to helping the hurting people of Haiti. They run 53 schools, one hospital, nine nutrition centers, three orphanages and a woodwork shop as well as the sponsorship program for children. During the past two months 50,000 people have been fed.

Australia may be on the opposite side of the world, but we have the same beat in our heart and the same longing for a safe, happy and healthy life lived without poverty
and without violence.

Blue King Brown, Nadee, and her family will continue to raise awareness and money to help rebuild Haiti..join us. spread the word...

peace and strength>>>

Fasting 2day in solidarity with the Climate Justice Fasters in Copenhagen
Today we are becoming an extension of the Climate Justice Fast that is happening
in Copenhagen and throughout the world today to support those who have been fasting for over 40days- asking for climate justice.

40 days is a long time to fast, as negotiations edge closer and closer to a close, we join them on this day to highlight the absolute necessity of our world leaders bringing home a real honest and morally sound treaty that we can believe in, one that we can be proud of.

"Feel free to pass it onto all those you know who are adamant about saving the future of our people and our planet, so they know they're not alone...n' pass it onto your leaders to remind them that we will hold them responsible for inaction toward climate change and that our collective memory never forgets. Red Terra, you are one of my heroes and an inspiration to all of us…rest in peace.
My friend Terri Wells, known as the ‘Red Terra’ has recently moved onward, and has left behind an enormous body of work in the form of radio journalism and air wave activism.

She was a great thinker and someone who inspired me deeply in the early days of finding my voice and freeing my mind. Red was the host of a weekly radio show, ‘The Shakedown’, on Bay FM in Byron Bay, and I along with many others were avid listeners and fans of her unique ability to effortlessly educate and connect listeners to a cause or social issue in a very brief amount of time. I learned a lot from how she would question and articulate community concerns to policy makers, corporate puppeteers, mining companies and war mongers, as well as from the varied reports she'd give on environmental issues both national and international. I would set my alarm to get up in time to hear her show, as with many other Northern Rivers community members, and by the end of our 3 hour session I was an Informed Citizen, something quite threatening to the powers that be, and by the end of that show, we were hundreds of walking, talking and communicating Informed citizens….

So thank you Red, for your strength and everything you worked so hard and endlessly to bring to light, and for all your support for myself, Carlo and conscious music and musicians around the globe. You really are such an amazing spirit, all my love and condolences to your family and our community which will be forever diminished without your presence..

Peace to you….always

Firstly I wanna say 'Happy New Years'!!! n all that…As you may or may not know we're in the midst of crafting the finishing touches of our new album and I’m back in the studio space writing some lyrics for a fresh song I’m wanting to squeeze on...and I wanted to take the time to Give thanks to all of you who came out to our shows at Falls, Southbound and Sunset Sounds Festivals and gave the highest vibes going this summer! And Big Ups to the festival organizers. We also wanna send love out to the BKB online fam ‘round the globe, thanks for all your support.

I also want to share some thoughts ive been verbalizing on the mic recently...;

As many of us just celebrated the coming of a new year on the western calendar, I would love to see a new year of western consciousness. At this time, in these days where earth has reached her point of crisis, now more than ever our generations need to reconnect with our Planet...and remain Mentally and Spiritually connected, by doing that, we're reconnecting with ourselves and each other.

I know 2009 is a good year, and I feel that the focus remains strongly on our environment and more and more people are accepting that, when they can see the environments connection to everything else that is going on/wrong 2day.
(Our nation has chosen to do very little to solve climate change at home and abroad with a lame 5% carbon emissions reduction target for 2020! When the science, facts and figures are known and it is clear we must embrace a 40% reduction by 2020, it is completely unacceptable to aim for anything less, 5% isn't even anywhere near the ball park...) So once again we all have to speak up and out about it, let's do this….

This year may we all Be Strong In the Mind, may we Be Focused, gutsy and Ready for the coming year...may we use the Strength and Courage of our Youth and the Insight and Wisdom of our years, to lead charge in dis battle of …

A Future vs Oblivion.

Yes y’all we're comin>>>>
Peace and Strength…
