BKB AT Songwriters Speak Presented by APRA. |

Writing songs is a cinch, right? Sometimes, but behind a great song is a creative process which writers can nurture to develop and hone their craft. Listen to songwriters speak about their inspiration and perspiration, the place and meaning of music in their lives and the stories behind the songs that have defined them. |

BKB ON THE ROAD IS USA/CANADA |

Australia's Premier hard hitting Live Urban Roots crew Blue King Brown are currently working on their 2nd album, set to drop in 2009, they have been traveling worldwide from Melbourne to Kingston Jamaica, New York to San Francisco & Aoteoroa New Zealand, working with the likes of Sly and Robbie, Jah Mason, Rovleta Fraser and renowned engineer BONZAI (know for his work with Damian & Stephen Marley amongst many others). Working in studios from Melbourne’s SING SING to Kingston’s Anchor studios & Bob Marley’s legendary TUFF GONG studios creating what is destined to be a rock solid album from the group who's presence in the scene keeps going from Strength to Strength.
Blue King Brown has just wrapped a tour supporting the legendary - Santana. If you were lucky enough to catch the show Blue King Brown boomed it out on some big arena stages. BKB snuck a few new tracks into the set, where better to test out some new vibes, than in front of 80,000 people. The Santana tour was a major career highlight for BKB to play along side a big inspiration. BKB we're very greatful for the the tour and would like to send a big thanks to chugg enteratinment and Santana for having them on such an awesome tour. Natalie was even lucky enough to be invited up on stage during Santana's 3 hour set to belt out a guitar duet, awesome stuff. The tour also included an ALL AGES headline show at The Gov in Adelaide. Supported by Tom Thumb beat box extraordinaire. It was a sell out show and both the band and the crowd were on fire. Faster Louder posted a review of the gig.. "Blue King Brown began their set with a jam where each member of the band came on stage separately to play a solo until Natalie got the crowd immediately screaming. The all-ages crowd was beaming-there was real love for the music from the band and audience. Extended versions of every song allowed every member of Blue King Brown a chance to have their own solo, which showed how this is not a band with an obvious one member who the crowds come to see-it is a family that beams talent, support for each other and recognition of each other’s skill and passion. The backup singers both had a chance to show their fantastic voices with Haley Cramer’s breathtaking ballad a show stopping moment." Read More

Blue King Brown Announced on West Coast Blues Fest Line-Up |

Everyone please check out this release from Ngaiire, who has been doing backing vocals with Blue King Brown for the past year and sadly our final shows togetherhave passed as she is leaving to focus on her own solo project in the new year. This is an amazing EP, it features a track Produced By Natalie Paapaa, Ngaiire has a big future ahead of her and we wish her all the best for her mission. Ngaiire does not consider herself a spectacular musician but when creativity calls she finds her muse in an old- beat- up- by- the- road- side guitar that her father strung up. This along with a couple of fingers that bang out chords that are beyond her musical vocabulary, she surprisingly manages to communicate her joys and laments the best that her hands can afford and as best as a voice that commands an honest meltdown can only do. Having spent the last 3 years touring with the likes of Paul Mac & Blue King Brown, Ngaiire is preparing to step out solo with the independent release of her debut EP, Song For No One . The EP, features tracks produced by Tony Buchen (Kid Confucius, The Whitlams, Macromantics, Abby Dobson) and Blue King Brown's Natalie Paapaa adding more fuel to a fire of other like minded musicians attempting to bring soul/jazz to the Australian masses. Reconciliation and Overseas Touring |

Blue King Brown will join Australian music heavy weights Powderfinger and Silverchair for three shows of their mammoth Across The Great Divide Tour. Regularly spending time in remote indigenous communities in central Australia teaching music, Carlo Santone and Natalie Paapaa see first hand the need to shed light on the issue of reconciliation and the gravity and importance of it to the people. “To us, reconciliation means respect. Respect for a culture and a people that lived on this land long before colonization. The Indigenous people are deeply connected to this land in ways non Indigenous people are not, and we need to respect that, the land defines them as a people and it defines their culture. Truth, Education and Understanding will lead to Respect and Reconciliation. A tour like this one is bound to raise discussion on the issues, and from that, should people’s hearts and minds be open, we should be able to see some change in the way people perceive indigenous history and the current indigenous struggle. There is a beautiful culture right here on our doorsteps, it should be something that is embraced and respected, and then we may see some unity.” Carlo Santone, BKB. Feel The Vibe & Stand Up! Say no to nuclear energy t-shirt |
|
On July 7th 2007, Blue King Brown, John Butler and a number of other artists took a stance against the use of nuclear power by wearing black t-shirts emblazoned with the slogan 'SAY NO TO NUCLEAR ENERGY' during their LIVE EARTH concert performance at Aussie Stadium, Sydney. The shirts were made by the bands especially for the concert. A limited edition run was produced for the day and we are now selling the excess of the run. The profits generated from the sales will be donated to organisations committed to the fight against the use of nuclear energy. You have the opportunity to donate some money to a great cause and score yourself a rockin shirt in the process, these are rare shirts and mark a moment in history when some prominent Australian and International bands took a stance together for the greater good. SHIRTS HAVE SOLD OUT SORRY IF YOU MISSED OUT!! |

In July Blue King Brown hit the stage in Sydney for Live Earth, which attracted over two billion viewers worldwide. Joining Crowded House, Missy Higgins, Paul Kelly and more to draw attention to the world’s widening environmental crisis. Watch the live footage here “There is a movement that is taking place right now, it’s a global movement that has finally hit the mainstream. It's a realisation of the impacts of our everyday actions that we can so easily take for granted. It’s a reality check and it’s a positive step forward in so many ways. The more people involved in the movement the closer we are to bettering all of our lives now and for the future. We have been strong supporters of this cause for a long time and participating in an event like this is bringing more and more awareness to the issue” Carlo Santone, BKB. |
